MIADC

Dear Friends,

I am deeply honored to serve as your Chair. I would like to extend my gratitude to you for the confidence you have reposed in me. MIADC has made large strides in the brief period it has been in existence.

Some of our accomplishments include:

• Appointment of: a MIADC member as the Commissioner of the Michigan office of Services to the Aging; six MIADC members to the Governor’s Advisory Council for Asian Pacific American Affairs; and a MIADC member as Officer at Large to the State Central Committee of the Michigan Democratic Party and Oakland County Democratic Party

• Acting as a liaison to the Governor’s office, US Congress and State Legislators

• Active participation in the Gubernatorial election in 2002 and the Presidential election in 2004 Our plans for the future include:

• Active participation in the pivotal 2006 elections and sponsoring and supporting candidates from our community for positions on school boards, city councils, the state legislature and various boards and commissions in the government

• Establish political internships for our student members both at the state and congressional levels

• Act as a resource to our members and other organizations on issues ranging from immigration to
health care

• Protect and preserve our beliefs and values through the political system

This is only the beginning. We need to do more to ensure that our voices are heard in the political arena.
I seek your support and pledge my best efforts towards attaining these goals.
